Al Johnson Sculptor

Roaring Girls

'Roaring Girls' is a sculpture series that considers the involvement of women in warfare, and its profound emotional impact. These works refer to the perceived masculine nature of warfare, and suggest continuing public ambivalence to the involvement of women in frontline fighting. They are constructed from timber and textiles, and transmute weaponry into objects that are both seductive and threatening.
